Going back to our childhood, Shae and I decided to introduce Aiden into the art of fort building. We started off with the traditional kitchen chair and blanket version.

Aiden loved playing in it and didn't want us to take it down. We had to explain that we needed the chairs so that we could eat dinner but that we would make a more permenant fort soon.

A few weeks later we decided we had collected enough newspapers to build a newspaper fort that one of my friends had shown on another blog (thanks Audrey). At first Aiden didn't understand how rolling up newspaper would make a fort, but his expression when it finally took shape was priceless. For instructions click

Aiden liked to help staple the triangles together.

The skeleton of our newspaper fort. Reminds me of a jungle gym.

Throw a sheet over it and voila you have an instant fort. Aiden had so much fun playing in it he decided he wanted to sleep in it. Shae brought in some blankets and made a very cozy place to sleep. I think Shae even wanted to sleep in it.

That is an awesome fort. Way better than the ones we did when I was little. I'll have to gve it a try.
So cute! I would have liked to sleep in there too! Did Aiden make it through the night?
Great fort! We'll have to start saving those newspaper ads so we can make Ethan a cool fort too!
Wow! Great fort. Great pictures.
I miss you! Give those little ones a hug from me.
Love,
Brenda
Super awesome Aiden! Looks like you are ready for Cub Scouts with skills like those!
This is spectacular! I'm thinking I need Mark to do this on! Awesome!
What a cool fort! The newspaper idea is ingenious! I love the pictures of Shae in there like one of the kids!
Shae-
Does it remind your of your little blue teepee when you were a kid?

Hi! Just noticed your link to my fort post :) cool glad u liked it! Once it wore down after much playing, i dismantled the fort then trimmed the stapled ends to save the tubes & make it again. I haven't yet but I know my kids will be happy when I do. Take care!
wow!! i think we'd probably have a family slumber party in one of those. very very cool. again, you and shae get the good parent awards. impressive :)
Sounds like you guys had a great time. There is something about little boys and forts. The one you guys made out of newspaper is pretty cool.
Hey! That's great! Glad you made one - you better post it along with Audrey's! :)
You are always so creative and fun. You're a great mom Beth!
It's giveaway time on my blog!
I thought you might enjoy those hot pads. But it did remind me that I have really slacked in the pj department the past couple years. Sorry. Glad you like them though.
