Mom: "Today is a very historic day. We are getting a new president today."
Aiden: "President Monson?" (For those who are not members of our church President Monson
is the President of our church.)
Mom: "Not a new church president, a new president of the United States. President Obama."
I then gave a brief geography lesson about where we live and that our state is part of the
United States and Obama was going to be the President of our country.
Aiden: Now he is watching the TV and asks, "Is that Obama?" (It was Natalie Morales from the
Today Show.)
Mom: "No, that is a girl, Obama is a boy."
Aiden: "Oh, Is that Obama, he is a boy." I think he asked if that was Obama about 20 times.
Then he asked, "Is that the Temple?" (Another church reference)
Mom: "No, that is called the Capital Building. It is in Washington D.C. our nation's capital.
It took about ten minutes to actually see Obama on TV, but I think he could pick him out in a crowd now. After that he somewhat lost interest, but I know someday we can look back and he will appreciate that he was part of this historic time. As I watched the coverage today, I couldn't help but be grateful for living in this great country. We are truly blessed to be here and have the freedoms we have. I am excited to see what the future will bring us.

I love it! Aiden is just too cute. You are a very good mom to take the time and try and explain it to him. You're the BEST!!!
That's awesome, especially the church comments! Your kids are so adorable!
